Every Mom Deserves To Feel Pretty
I can’t think of any time in life that a woman deserves to feel pretty as much as motherhood…Maybe your wedding
day, but you prepare so much for that it’s almost inevitable that you will be gorgeous. So here’s some mom inspiration for you.
Nothing can prepare you for pregnancy or motherhood. No books, no stories from your girlfriends, and no amount of babysitting can prepare you for it. Looking back at both these pictures I don’t think I looked ugly, but I can tell you I “felt” prettier in the first picture. Why? Because I took really good care of myself during my third pregnancy. I ate well, I slept as much as a mom of two could, and I worked out almost daily.
Tips for new moms and moms-to-be
Taking time to feel good about yourself is just as important as taking care of everyone else.
1- Get your hair done.
If you can’t afford color frequently, consider doing something close to your natural hair color. I used to be blonde, now I pay a man a lot of money to keep me that way. After we went from two incomes to one, I had to scale back on some things…like hair. So I had a friend bring some color and try to do it. My hair turned orange. I tried not to be upset, but I already felt ugly, so that didn’t help. Also, don’t whack off your hair immediately after birth. Hormones make you a little off when it comes to making decisions. I regretted it almost immediately.
2 – Take a shower or bath every day.
I know this sounds weird, but from the time my first was born, I think I went days without a shower. For one, I was super sore from my emergency c-section and two, I really didn’t care about myself at all. It got bad. Take a shower and dry your hair. Maybe even put on a little make up if that’s something that makes you feel pretty.
3 – Get moving!!!
Seriously…enough can’t be said about this. I gained the same amount of weight with each pregnancy though I was far more active in my third pregnancy than I had been in my other two, and felt better about myself because of it. Exercising gives you confidence. Don’t believe me? Try it. Like really try it, and see what I mean. P90X was my program of choice to get back in shape when my daughter was a couple of months old. I gave it three weeks, lost some weight, but couldn’t keep up with the abdominal exercises so I gave up. I don’t want you to give up. Need some motivation? I’d love to be your coach! 4 – Wear clothes that fit!
I know this sounds like a no brainer, but after a baby, things shift. You can totally get your body back after baby…even a better one than you started with, but you’ll have a period of time where things won’t be quiet right. Accessorize with a cute scarf or jewelry you love, take a shower (see above), and do your hair and make up (also see above) and just know that you will be “normal” again.
5 – Talk with other mamas.
We are in this together. I know there’s someone going through the same thing you are and moms love to talk about mom life! 🙂

One day you’ll reflect on this time and realize what a precious time it was. As hard as the beginning was with my daughter, I’d do it over again in a heartbeat. I wish I’d had someone like me to confide in about all my insecurities and my depression. I had a best friend and even family members, but I wouldn’t talk about any of this. Don’t be like me. Share with someone.
If there’s only one thing I get across in this piece is that you surround yourself with people who love and care about you, and if you can’t find someone…I’m here for you. Now go love on your baby!
