On yesterday’s blog, I included a picture of black bean hummus and a vegetable plate. (The one above.) I got some feedback on the picture, and I told one of my friends I would find the recipe and share it. Here it is!


1 can black beans drained and rinsed

1/2 cup cliantro

2 tbsp tahini

2 tbsp water (I use the juice from the jalepenos in a jar. Makes it tastier and spicier if you like that sort of thing…which I do.)

2 tbsp lime juice

1 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil

3/4 tsp ground cumin

1/4 tsp salt

1 garlic clove

1/2 small jalepeno

Combine all ingredients in a food processor and pulse until combined thoroughly. Serve with pita chips or fresh cut veggies of your choice.


This stuff is addictive! My mother-in-law was the one who introduced me to this, and I’m pretty sure she makes it almost every time we visit. It’s great for a party dip or just to enjoy throughout the week as a snack.

Here are some of my favorite things to use:

I use a food processor similar to this one. My mom swears by Cuisinart, so if you’re in the market for a food processor (they do so much!) this is a great one.

These are the pita chips we always use. I mean, is there any other brand out there? lol
