What Is The Beachbody 21 Day Ultimate Reset?

So What IS The Beachbody 21 Day Ultimate Reset?

The simple explanation is that the Beachbody 21 Day Ultimate Reset is a program that was designed by Beachbody to help “reset” our bodies to “factory settings”. Most adults spend a good portion of their lives eating really bad food. Our bodies are really good at processing the things we throw at it typically. You can’t outsmart a bad diet and eventually our bodies stop working at the highest level they can. The program comes with a nutrition guide with very specific meals and recipes for each day: breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack. It also includes supplements to help your body get rid of all the “junk” that’s been building up for year as well as getting our bodies back to a more alkaline state. While on it, you may not drink anything other than distilled water with mineralize (himalayan salt which they provide) and herbal, caffeine-free tea (not decaf).

The Hardest Part For Me…

So for me, by far, the hardest part was giving up coffee. The first day for me was rough. They suggest you wean yourself off of caffeinated beverages prior to starting, but I didn’t do it the first time and I didn’t do it this time. It’s rough! The first two days I kept a headache. Like a migraine. Part of it was caffeine withdrawal, and the other part was that it was shark week for me and I usually get headaches due to hormonal changes. After the first two days I was great. I got up every day feeling refreshed and not even feeling like I needed coffee which was completely different than the first time I did the Reset. Also, the supplement “Power Greens” is nasty! I took it with 100% tart cherry juice and held my nose.

Also Difficult…

Prepping for the meals can also be time consuming and even a little frustrating at times. I ended up switching up some meals for ones I like. You can switch within the same week and same meal, so during week 1 you can swap breakfasts or lunches, but not a breakfast for a lunch. Beachbody recommends doing the program meals as written, but there is a substitution list in the Facebook group online for support as well as “Reset In A Crunch” which are go-to meals when  you don’t have a ton of time to prep. I went to the “Reset In A Crunch” frequently because I’m a busy mom of 3 and my husband also completed this with me. I needed to keep it simple. Not working out was extremely difficult for me too.

My Results

I started at 135 lbs and weighed in on day 22 at 123.4 lbs…So basically 12 lbs gone as well as 8 1/2 inches. Measurements lost are as follows: chest 1/4 inch, waist 1 3/4 inches, lower waist (about 1 1/2-2 inches below my belly button) 1 3/4 inches, hips 1 3/4 inches, thighs (total) 2 1/4 inches, and biceps (total) 3/4 inch. I’m thrilled with my results. Last time I completed this program, my workouts became more effective and my relationship with food became a whole lot more controlled by me and not the food. I’m expecting the same this time. After 4 years, 1 more baby, and 3 moves I’ve done a lot of things to my body, and it was time to do this again. I’m glad I did it even though I said I would NEVER do this again.

What Should You Expect?

Well, it’t hard to say. Even my experience was different from my first time to my second. While this is NOT an easy program…like at all, it is doable, and I found it much easier to get through the second time. I wasn’t as concerned. I followed the parameters of the program, but I didn’t have the option (or didn’t know I had the option) of switching out some meals and I didn’t have the “Reset In A Crunch” the first time I did it. That was really a game changer. I did still always feel like I was running to the grocery store, but part of that is my fault because I’m a horrible prepper. (Not sure if that’s really a word, but I’m going with it.) I also didn’t feel like I was wasting any food because I was using my leftovers with the repeat meals. I’m okay with eating the same thing for a while. What I’m trying to say is everyone’s experience is different. I have a renewed energy and focus I haven’t had in a long time. It truly is a life changing program.

Is It Easy?

So I want you to know this IS NOT EASY…but IT’S WORTH IT! It takes time, energy, and dedication. People who have completed this program have significantly reduces bad cholesterol levels, blood pressure, and even come off medications for various illnesses. I would not tell you to do this without consulting your physician first especially if you have a medical condition that requires monitoring. You should also not do this while pregnant OR breastfeeding. I know women who have done it while breastfeeding, but really the calories are too low for a breastfeeding mama. You don’t get that time back, don’t ruin it. You have time to do this after breastfeeding. I would not have done it while breastfeeding.

Final Thoughts

This is a difficult but doable program. I’m really “selling it to you” aren’t I? lol Sorry, I have to be truthful with you. If you want to feel amazing and break through plateaus and allow your body to work at it’s maximum capacity then you have to “sacrifice” in some way. As a mom of three, I need all the body and brain power I can muster. This helped me with both those things. See my pictures below…
